Middlesbrough’s HR Alchemy Grows In Year One

Jo and Christine

HR Alchemy is celebrating hitting sixty clients just a year after launching by expanding the team and expanding into a larger office.

Jo Davies runs HR Alchemy which is based at the new business community at Commerce House in Middlesbrough. Thanks to the success of her business to date Jo is expanding the company by taking on a new full time member of staff, office manager, Linda Beames and by moving into a larger office in the building. Linda joins Jo and Kath Holtom.

With 23 years’ experience of working in senior HR positions in various industries, Jo took the plunge to set up HR Alchemy, when she first moved into Commerce House in 2018.

Since moving in, the company has enjoyed so much success in such a short period of time, that Jo has moved up to a nine man office complete with original parquet flooring on the sixth floor in the stunning Grade II listed building in Exchange Square.

HR Alchemy offers bespoke and personable HR solutions for start-ups and established businesses. Jo takes a unique approach to HR as she doesn’t believe in a “one-size fits all” approach. The business thrives on quickly finding solutions to individual business’ problems, dissolving matters effectively, and allowing clients to get on with running their business.

Jo, from Marton, Middlesbrough said:

“Commerce House is a fantastic location for clients to visit and staff to work from. Both it’s TS1 postcode in the historic quarter and how we feel when we are at work has contributed to the success we have enjoyed.

“I am so delighted that Linda, who is from Middlesbrough, is joining Kath and I. My aim has always been to have one of the top floor offices, so we can enjoy the view and the many original features. As it is a larger office, I can now expand in the future without needing to move offices again, I couldn’t be happier! ”

Commerce House has recently been renovated with a £1.2 million investment and it offers office space; meeting rooms, hot desking and virtual office services. The office space is proving popular with just a few left, ranging up to a 14 man office from a two man office.

Christine Huntington, facilities manager at Commerce House, said:

“It is just fabulous to our clients thriving, and that they are all so keen to stay in Commerce House. When tenants like HR Alchemy move to a bigger office, it frees up smaller ones which allows us to bring in new tenants wanting to be based here. Congratulations to Jo and her team, and I hope they thrive even more in the new office space.”
