Mystery Proposer Sought At Castle’s First Wedding Open Day

Couple on the battlements of Langley Castle Hotel, Northumberland

Northumberland’s only castle hotel, Langley Castle in Langley-on-Tyne, is trying to wheedle out the “mystery proposer”, as it stages its first Wedding Open Day, on January 27 2019.

Langley’s new executive general manager, Margaret Livingstone-Evans, a specialist in creating exquisite weddings, says every such event has someone in the room with their partner, who suddenly feels the urge to propose, having only tagged along with a couple of friends actually planning a wedding.

To identify the mystery proposer or proposers, Langley castle is offering a 15 per cent discount to anyone who goes down on one knee, proposes on the day and books their wedding there and then.

Other already engaged couples wowed by Langley, who also book their wedding on the day, will be offered a 10 per cent reduction off the cost. The respective discounts apply if the deposit is then paid within seven days.

The mystery proposer will have a hard time resisting the urge to propose, as they the 14th century castle building, rich in history and complete with sparkling chandeliers, four-poster beds, incredibly romantic window seats set into seven-feet-thick walls and numerous luxury touches.

With 2019 wedding trends focused on chrome, gold and other metals, as well as greenery and mirrors, Langley is 2019’s perfect wedding venue, as all of these components are to be found in its newly refurbished wedding suite. This will be decorated as if hosting a wedding, to inspire, spark the imagination and tease out that all-important proposal.

With the castle wedding being the in-vogue wedding for 2019, following Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Windsor Castle wedding, and the castle wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, Langley expects to see many couples at its new-format Wedding Open Day. The majority are likely to be considering its exclusive-use package that gives them the whole of the castle for a day or weekend, at an incredibly irresistible price.

The interest in its Game of Thrones-style weddings on social media, also suggests many GOT fans will not be able to resist taking a peek at the backdrop that could enable them to be Lannisters or Starks for the day or weekend, on the same exclusive-use basis, whether marrying, indulging in a big celebration, or staging a corporate day with a difference.

Margaret Livingstone-Evans says: “We cannot wait to welcome couples to our very first Wedding Open Day and to highlight all of Langley’s on-trend facets, not to mention our in-depth expertise in creating and delivering the dream wedding.

“We believe our search for the Mystery Proposer is a first for a wedding venue, but Langley likes to set trends rather than following them. We shall be on tenterhooks, awaiting a proposal.”

Langley Castle’s Wedding Open Day takes place between 11am and 4pm on January 27, giving plenty of time for the Mystery Proposer to declare themselves.
