A North East flooring retail group has taken the amount raised for one of the UK’s biggest cancer charities to over £80,000.
This year, Franks the Flooring Store and Connection Flooring have donated £10,440 to Macmillan Cancer Support.
This brings the total amount raised by both companies to £83,580 in less than five years.
This is enough to pay for a Macmillan nurse for 18 months, ensuring people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.
The family-owned flooring group, which employs 234 people across its two main retail brands and has its head office in Shildon, come together in a year-long campaign to support Macmillan.
This year, among the fundraising activities included a staff party.
Mick Copeland, Franks The Flooring Store Business Development Manager, said: “Macmillan Cancer Support is a charity close to our hearts as it has helped many of our staff, their families and friends, so we are delighted to have been able to raise over £10,000 over the last 12 months.
“To know that the total we have raised is enough to fund a Macmillan Nurse for 18 months makes us very proud and we look forward to continuing our support for many years to come.”
Michelle Muir, Senior Fundraising Manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “Last year our Macmillan nurses supported more than 650,000 people, but as a charity with no government funding, we rely on donations to enable us to provide our services.
“Without the generous support of companies like Frank’s The Flooring Store and Connection Retail, we would not be able to help so many people living with cancer in the UK.
“Both companies have been fantastic supporters of Macmillan Cancer Support and we would like to thank them for their latest donation.”
