New credit union branch opened for Trafford residents in Stretford Mall

Manchester Credit Union has opened a new branch in Stretford Mall to provide ethical loans and savings to new and existing Trafford members.

The branch was officially opened by Leader of Trafford Council, Councillor Andrew Western, with Manchester Credit Union Chief Executive Christine Moore and Chairman Peter Mitchell.

Christine said: “We are so pleased to finally open our new branch in Stretford Mall. Due to Covid, the opening had been delayed but we are really looking forward to welcoming new and existing members into the branch.”

The credit union, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, provides savings and loans to more than 30,000 people living and working in Greater Manchester.

It also offers a free payroll deduction service, BEESMART, to local employers who want to support the financial wellbeing of their staff.

Trafford Council leader, Councillor Andrew Western said: “I am absolutely delighted that this facility has opened in Stretford.

“Credit unions provide a massive boost to neighbourhoods and provide much-needed support where it is needed most. Good luck and best wishes to the team for the future, I know you will be a success.”

The new branch can be found at Unit 51 on the first floor in Stretford Mall and will be open Monday-Friday 9am-3.30pm.
