A training course aimed at business owners, managers, supervisors and engineers is being launched in York in March, with a mission to make the subject more engaging.
The three-day IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) Managing Safely certified course will allow attendees to learn the skills and tools needed to champion health and safety standards in their workplace, with an emphasis on helping to build a culture of engagement, with the ultimate aim of increasing productivity.
Run by Pro Safety Management, the event will take place at the Catalyst Building at York University, with seven dates across 2019 currently available. Pro Safety Management is one of only a handful of accredited IOSH training providers in Yorkshire.
Unusually, Pro Safety Management offers an extended learning experience on training courses, by putting delegates in contact with the instructor both before and after the course, to allow for questions on how to put learning into practice in real world situations. The tutoring style is also more interactive than traditional courses, even using Lego to help boost understanding through having fun.
The training programme is designed for any individual who has organisational responsibilities for managing health and safety risks, resources and workplace practices. Covering risk assessment and control, health and safety legislation, investigating incidents and measuring performance, all delegates who complete the course will receive IOSH Managing Safely certification.

Places on the course cost £499, including full course tuition, course materials, assessment, certification and refreshments.
