New West Park housing development to bring stylish new homes and much-needed enhancements to local amenities

Street scene plans of the David Wilson Homes development at West Park

The launch of a new housing development in the West Park area of Darlington is set to bring a number of stylish new homes as well as enhancements to local transport and environmental amenities.

Following the launch of Barratt Homes’ The Orchard at West Park development, which saw the housebuilder create over 160 new two, three and four bedroom homes, David Wilson Homes’ construction of the adjacent new development is now underway, which will see the addition of a further 79 new homes. The housebuilder’s new show homes are now available to view by appointment having officially opened to the public last weekend.

The delivery of David Wilson Homes at The Orchard at West Park, combined with the existing Barratt Homes development, will offer customers even more choice on the style of new homes that are available in the area, with a stylish collection of two, three and four bedroom homes.

There will be a total of seven different house types available on the West Park development, including the Archford, a stylish semi-detached, three bedroom home with an open-plan kitchen and dining area, and French doors opening onto the rear garden. The Archford is priced from £204,995 and has a main bedroom with its own en suite, and a seperate bathroom for the rest of the family.

Priced from £314,995, the Kirkdale is a beautiful four bedroom home with a delightfully traditional look and an interior designed for modern family life. It boasts a practical utility room with an expansive open-plan kitchen, and the lounge has an attractive bay window. Also paired with French doors, the Kirkdale offers a seamless transition from inside to garden, making it a pleasant place to relax.

A selection of new two bedroom homes will also be available to reserve at the development soon.

As part of the development’s planning agreement, the housebuilder will be providing bus stop provisions and sustainable transport improvements, in order to enable more accessible travel whilst encouraging the use of public transport. Barratt Developments will also be facilitating the completion of Newton Lane highways improvements, as well as supporting travel planning; all of which will be crucial to the local area following the lifting of Government restrictions post-lockdown.

These will be built upon with the delivery of accessible public open spaces which can be used for sport, outdoor leisure and children’s play – all of which have grown in importance in light of the pandemic.

What’s more, in a bid to increase the ecological value of the site, The Orchard at West Park will become a wildlife-friendly development as the housebuilder has proposed an extensive landscaping scheme, which is set to include the planting of approximately 500 trees and new native hedging within front gardens. The planting scheme also involves wildflower and species rich grass seeding in public open spaces, in order to nurture the local wildlife.

Emily Watson, Sales Manager for The Orchard at West Park said: “As the demand for new homes within the area continues to rise, we’re thrilled to be launching The Orchard at West Park in order to provide residents with high quality housing. We’re looking forward to making a positive impact in the local community, and we encourage anybody who is interested in the homes we have available to get in touch with one of our Sales Advisors to find out more information.”

An innovative Part Exchange scheme on the new David Wilson Homes development is available, which allows buyers to sell their existing home to the housebuilder in order to secure their new home, and removes the need for any estate agent fees to be paid at the end of the sale.

Renowned for delivering high quality homes, Barratt Developments has been consistently rated a 5 star housebuilder by the Home Builders Federation for 12 consecutive years, with over 90% of purchasers happy to recommend their home to a friend.
