A University of York alumna is pleased to be able to offer a new writing and proofreading service to Yorkshire businesses.
Spanish and Linguistics graduate Katie Thompson has recently launched Katie Lingo, providing writing services including website copywriting, proofreading, freelance journalism, translation help and other bespoke packages.
Working remotely, Katie is willing to work with clients from all over the country, but was keen to target her local market in and around York. Recently she attended the Freshers’ Fair at the University of York to speak with this year’s new cohort and offer any proofreading or writing services to students new and returning.
After graduating from the University of York in 2012, Katie went on to pursue a distance learning Diploma in Journalism as accredited by the National Council for the Training of Journalists. She now holds qualifications in key areas of journalism such as sub-editing, media law and Teeline shorthand. She hopes to bring these skills to the table for a vast array of clients, from students looking for essay assistance to small businesses requiring website copy.
Katie’s previous experience includes writing for The York Press plus a number of regional magazines across Yorkshire, as well as contributing to alumni publication Yu Magazine and writing for esteemed websites such as Yahoo!. With a background in Spanish, she has also assisted international students in fine-tuning their dissertations.
All assignments can be charged by the hour or by the word, subject to the client’s individual requirements. Katie says: “I’m so pleased to finally have launched my own business doing what I love – writing and editing. I’ve been working with some fantastic, diverse clients, but I am always on the lookout for more and would love to help!
