Newcastle Building Society Investing In Berwick Branch Upgrade

The North East’s biggest building society is investing in improving the customer facilities available at its most northerly branch.

Newcastle Building Society is creating an enhanced, open plan branch on Hide Hill in Berwick as part of a continuing multi-million pound investment programme across the whole of its branch network.

The upgraded branch will provide customers with better access to services, information and advice, as well as additional space for transactions.

A community space also forms part of the new design, which will provide a free space in which local people, groups and good causes can hold meetings and events.

Work is due to commence at the branch on Monday 18th March. During the refurbishment period, which is expected to be around 12 weeks, services will still be available in a temporary area of the branch.

The refurbished branch is expected to fully reopen in June, with an official reopening event set to follow.

Stuart Miller, customer director of Newcastle Building Society, said: “While many financial institutions are closing branches across the region, the Society remains fully committed to maintaining and enhancing a modern branch network that sits right at the heart of our communities.

“Our investment programme is designed to ensure our customers have access to the high quality services and facilities that they expect from a modern financial institution, and we’ve had a fantastic customer response to the various branches across the North East where work has already been completed.

“The temporary facilities will allow our Berwick team to continue to provide their usual excellent service to local customers while work takes place, and we’re already looking forward to unveiling the Hide Hill branch’s new look in the summer.”
