(L-R) The 2018 Entrepreneurs’ Forum Award Winners: Jordan McCabe, Lianne Walker, Kevin Brown, Pamela Petty and Paul Callaghan

The North East’s leading business figures are encouraged to submit their nominations to the 2019 North East Entrepreneurial Awards.

Delivered by the Entrepreneurs’ Forum, the awards honour and applaud entrepreneurial leaders who have made remarkable contributions to the local business economy and continue to achieve and deliver beyond expectation.

The awards comprise of five categories which recognise outstanding individuals at each stage of the entrepreneurial journey: Emerging Talent, Scale-up, Entrepreneur of the Year, Mentor of the Year and Lifetime Achievement.

Last year, Sunderland-based entrepreneur Paul Callaghan CBE of Leighton Group took home the Lifetime Achievement Award for his longstanding passion and commitment to supporting the North East’s economy.

Commenting on his win, Paul said, “It’s an amazing honour to receive this award from the Entrepreneurs’ Forum. I remember when the organisation was first set up and to see where it is today is truly fantastic.

“The North East is a great place to do business and we are proud of what we have achieved here. It’s important to find a location, set down roots, stay there and grow.”

Since 2004, the North East Entrepreneurial Awards have recognised 45 of the region’s leading entrepreneurs, including property developer Sir John Hall, John Fenwick of department store Fenwicks and Anne Preston MBE of Prestons of Potto.

James Robson MBE, chairman of the Entrepreneurs’ Forum, said “The North East Entrepreneurial Awards honour the many business success stories in the region, recognising those who are driving growth, creating jobs and ultimately making the North East a place of prosperity.

“The North East Entrepreneurial Awards is now in its 16th year and, while we always receive a number of high calibre nominations, the ambition is to build upon the successes of the previous awards year and to make the next even bigger and better.

“We’re looking forward to celebrating the next generation of business leaders in the autumn and invite those who are leading dynamic and growing enterprises, or who have demonstrated huge commitment to the North East’s businesses, to put their names forward.”

The North East Entrepreneurial Awards will take place on Friday 20th September 2019 at Hilton Newcastle Gateshead and is supported by Fairstone Group, The Malhotra Group, IA Growth and the North East Local Enterprise Partnership.

Nominations for the North East Entrepreneurial Awards close Friday 24th May.
