North East business in healthy position for new travel guidance

A Newcastle-based business that pivoted from occupational health to Covid-19 testing during the pandemic is in prime position to help UK travellers with the new Government travel guidance due to be rolled out this month.

The updated guidance aims to make travelling abroad simpler by only having red and green travel lists plus the PCR test is set to be replaced by a Day 2 rapid lateral flow antigen test, meaning it’s a lot quicker and cheaper to go on holiday.

NPH Group is the testing partner at Newcastle International Airport and Leeds Bradford Airport as well as being a provider of Covid-19 tests for the likes of Virgin Voyages and has already provided over 80,000 tests to the public.

NPH Group has also recently partnered with Emirates to offer their customers preferential rates on their Covid-19 testing services and ensure they can travel to Dubai and beyond as safely and easily as possible when flights start from Newcastle International Airport this month.

To further support the travel industry, NPH Group has launched a new consumer facing website ‘tests2go’ which sells rapid lateral flow antigen tests for £32. Results are submitted via the associated NPH iMed mobile phone app and certificates are provided within 15 minutes.

Mark Philpott, CEO at NPH Group explains: “The change in guidance is amazing news for those wishing to still go abroad this year. The new guidance should be a lot clearer both in terms of where it is safe to go and what the procedure is for testing.

“Given our partnerships with global travel providers and airports, we have been supplying Covid-19 tests to travellers since we were allowed to travel post-lockdown. To make the process as easy as possible, we created a user-friendly app which provides step-by-step instructions on what needs to be done and when.

“This has now been updated to reflect the new changes and users simply need to scan the QR code on the lateral flow test and take a picture of their results to register their Covid-19 status.”

Philpott added: “There has been a lot of speculation in the media about how suppliers of Covid-19 tests will cope with the demand for lateral flow tests. We are in a very fortunate position having partnered with BHA Medical who has supplied millions of tests globally with offices in the USA, UK, China, Canada, South Africa and Mauritius so we have an abundance of tests waiting in the wings ready for the autumn/winter influx of holidaymakers.”
