Generator has today announced it is hosting the region’s largest music industry conference this summer in celebration of the 10th annual Evolution Emerging festival.

With tickets selling fast for the longest standing showcase of emerging music in the North East, organisers of the event confirmed it will also present a free music business gathering at Sage Gateshead on Wednesday, 6th June, just days before the music festival on Saturday, 9th June 2018.

Speakers will include representatives from some of the nation’s largest industry music organisations including Musician’s Union, PRS for Music, BPI, PPL, Help Musicians UK, MMF (Music Managers Forum), digital music distributor, Music Glue, and the independent music publisher, Sentric Music, in a bid to share its insider knowledge of the modern music industry.

This free-to-enter Evolution Emerging Conference will be first of its kind since Generator’s last Music Futures appearance in 2015 and has been billed as a must-attend event for musicians and producers, record labels, forward-thinking publishers and industry trade organisations from across the region.

Generator’s Talent Development Manager, Charlie Dancer, explains: “We’re delighted to be able to bring another music industry event of this size and nature to the North East to run alongside Evolution Emerging 2018.

“As it is Evolution Emerging’s 10th birthday, we really wanted to offer regional music business professionals and musicians the opportunity to learn from and mingle with some of the major players in the industry right now.

“The conference will be a mix of roundtable discussions, intimate insight sessions, panels, as well as keynote speeches that shouldn’t be missed.

“The Music Futures conference developed a reputation as one of the most forward thinking and trend forecasting industry events in the UK, boasting both national and international reach, and this will build on the reputation it earned.”

Featuring over 30 industry guests and internationally acclaimed speakers covering contemporary topics and opportunities that exist in the industry this year, Generator believes it’s a date in the diary that people who are serious about the business side of music can’t afford to miss.

Simon Pursehouse, Director of Music Services at Sentric Music, adds: “Sentric is thrilled to be involved in the new Evolution Emerging conference. We will be covering the subjects of music publishing and synchronisation and are hoping to meet some talented, driven and inspiring people, just like we always do when we come to the North East!”

Taking place in the Hall Two, The Barbour Room, and the Music Education Centre, the Evolution Emerging Conference takeover of Sage Gateshead will place a special focus on emerging artists, managers and promoters.

It will cover a range of hard-hitting topics including the state of labels in 2018, how musicians can make their music pay, tricks of the management trade, mental health in the music industry and will also feature a special insight into gender inequality in the music industry delivered by Generator’s WeCreate Project.
