North Studio: Boutique wellness hub lands in North Leeds

A game-changing boutique wellness hub designed to train both body and mind has landed in North Leeds just off-Street Lane this week. North Studio is a one-stop-shop for immersive class-based workouts, holistic therapies, massage treatments and workshops, as well as providing a stylish and laidback space to socialise.

With state-of-the-art classes spanning strength, yoga, pilates, HIIT and cycle, guests are able to book sessions ranging from relaxing yoga classes to high intensity, full-body workouts. All classes are led by an expert team of instructors, all handpicked for their wealth of knowledge and dedication to fitness and wellbeing.

North Studio offers a range of flexible pricing plans which allows guests to pick and choose based on how often they’d like to attend, as opposed to being tied into a fixed monthly membership fee. Classes can be purchased individually, or in a range of reasonably priced packages of 5, 10 and 20. A range of memberships are also available for the most dedicated and can be purchased for a minimum 3-month period.

Neighbourhood vibe

The on-site Refuel Kitchen will serve gourmet coffee from cult Leeds brand North Star Coffee and a selection of nutritious made-to-order smoothies, making it the ideal post-workout refuel spot. The café has a friendly, neighbourhood vibe and will be open to both guests and walk-ins. The Refuel Kitchen also boasts an outdoor seating area for safe socialising.

The whole studio has been carefully designed to exceed the COVID safety measures set out by the government and includes perspex screens on reception, a one-way system and sanitising stations. All equipment is kept at least 1.5 metres apart and ‘Stay in your zone’ stickers are dotted throughout the studio to remind guests to respect social distancing.

North Studio was created by Leeds born Rachel Woolford, who decided to turn her passion for wellbeing into a forward-thinking concept that could shake up the city’s wellness industry. Rachel first found a love for fitness whilst studying in sixth form and then later qualified as a personal trainer whilst acquiring her economics degree.

Unique DNA

Just three months into her post-graduate finance role, the budding entrepreneur decided to quit and pursue her own business. Soon after, North Studio was born. Inspired by cutting-edge fitness brands such as Barry’s Bootcamp and Core Collective, Rachel secured the studio in May 2019 and set about creating North Studio’s unique DNA.

Originally scheduled to open the same week that lockdown began back in March, Rachel and her team took the time out to refine and perfect the brand. Speaking just ahead of the launch, Rachel said:

‘’The path to North Studio may have been longer and bumpier than I had originally anticipated, however, I couldn’t be more thrilled with the end result. 2020 threw us a major curveball, but we turned it into a positive and have created what I believe to be the future of fitness and wellbeing in the north.’’

‘’I’ve been lucky enough to travel to some incredible places, but my heart has always been in Yorkshire and I wouldn’t want to do this anywhere else. Whether you’re a fitness fanatic or a complete novice, North Studio is designed to make men and women of all ages, shapes, backgrounds and abilities feel welcome.’’
