Ascent Homes, a Northumberland-based housebuilder has assisted with ‘on site’ safety for pupils at Ellington Primary School warning them about the dangers of playing on building sites.
Ascent Homes was particularly keen to visit the school and engage with students from all year groups, because of the school’s proximity to its development, Wayside Point, in Ellington which is currently working one phase 1 of the development providing good quality family homes.
As a responsible house builder Ascent Homes is committed to engaging with local communities close to its development sites.
Following previous engagement with members of staff from the school, the developer saw a perfect opportunity to link up further with the school and its pupils by arranging a presentation on the importance of health and safety on building sites.
While at the school Ascent Homes introduced ‘Bob the Builder’ to the children and they were given the opportunity to ask and answer questions on health and safety throughout the presentation, learn about personal protective equipment (PPE) and the tools that go into making a house.
Commenting on its involvement with the school, Ascent Homes’ Claire Scott, Head of sales and marketing, said:

The visit has gone extremely well, sparking a lot of excitement and enthusiasm amongst the children, even more so when Bob the Builder walked in!”

A lot of the children had questions and were curious about the building work taking place over the road from their school. We couldn’t think of a better way for them to learn about staying safe on a construction site.
