Northumbrian’s Langley Castle Named UK’s ‘Most Romantic Hotel’

Northumbrian hotel, Langley Castle, has successfully wooed its guests and scooped the accolade of the UK’s ‘Most Romantic Hotel’ in the Luxury Lifestyle Magazine readers’ awards, thanks to their votes.

The 14th century castle, which has been playing Cupid since 1986, had been shortlisted along with 29 other hotels, before reigning triumphant in the fiercely competitive category all hotels long to win. It also came second in the ‘Best Boutique Hotel’ category, in which 20 hotels had been shortlisted.

The award is tremendous news for Langley Castle, which is renowned for its exquisite weddings, both fairy-tale castle affairs and themed Game of Thrones-style. It believes it will now attract even more couples from across Britain and worldwide locations, as all compete for dates, so as to tell friends and family that they are tying the knot at Britain’s most romantic venue.

Those seeking a romantic weekend away should also make Langley Castle the number one hotel on their wish-list, to have the love-fuelled experience of staying in a castle room complete with four-poster bed, romantic window seat and little touches that have no equal, thanks to Langley’s unique ambience.

The stellar news comes at a time when Langley Castle is already seeing a boom in wedding enquiries, following the castle wedding marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Castle weddings are definitely back in vogue and the number one choice for those marrying over the next two years.

Langley’s general manager, Carla Robinson, says, “We are finding that couples are shunning weddings in manufactured environments and looking for a venue with authenticity, classic style and sense of place within the landscape. They are also wanting to personalise the wedding in unique ways, rather than doing what everyone else has done, setting the trend, rather than following it.

“We are ecstatic at having been named ‘Most Romantic Hotel’, which has already generated wedding enquiries from couples wishing to marry at a venue with a compelling sense of love filling the rooms within its six century-old, seven-feet thick walls. The fact that it was the love of our customers that brought this award to our door, through public votes, is even more special, as is the fact that these people are discerning appreciators of true luxury.

“Coming second in the UK’s ‘Best Boutique Hotel’ category is a further endorsement of the memorable experience we offer to our guests.”

The prestigious Luxury Lifestyle readers’ awards are sponsored by Salcombe Gin and “showcase some of the most luxurious and opulent hotels on the planet”, as well as airlines, airports, cruise liners, travel operators and holiday destinations.

Nick Gilmartin, editor of Luxury Lifestyle Magazine, said: “Our readers’ travel awards celebrate the very finest in luxury travel. We’ve seen some truly fantastic nominees this year and we congratulate all the winners on their success.
