NYMAS celebrates warehouse refurb and year of growth with Tees Valley Mayor

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen officially opened the refurbished warehouse

As part of its ambitious growth plan, a North East accessible washroom supplier has revealed its refurbished warehouse, which was officially opened by Tees Valley Mayor, Ben Houchen.

Billingham-based NYMAS, which has seen a 15 per cent increase in sales over the last 12 months, has invested in state-of-the-art machinery and increased its warehouse capacity.

The development has been supported by £47,347.64 from the England European Regional Development Fund, via Tees Valley Business Compass.

To commemorate the official opening of the warehouse, NYMAS invited members of staff and the Tees Valley Mayor to join in the celebrations and mark the completion of the project.

After a guided tour of NYMAS’ facilities by Managing Director Craig Anderson, Operations and Supply Chain Director Debbie Catterick and Warehouse Manager Dave Jones, the Tees Valley Mayor conducted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the new warehouse.

Ben said: “It was fantastic to meet the really talented team at NYMAS and officially open their newly-refurbished warehouse. I even got the chance to try the new equipment for myself.

“Thanks to funding provided by Tees Valley Business Compass, NYMAS is now experiencing growth and creating jobs for local people. They are another example of a thriving business which are so important to the Tees Valley economy.

“Since I was elected, I have made it a priority to support our SMEs and help them invest, grow and create jobs, and I am delighted the funding we have provided has helped another business do just that.”

The changes in the warehouse have enabled NYMAS to efficiently stock products following the reconfiguration of racking, which has resulted in an increase of pallet spaces from 900 to over 1,500.

Subsequent to the warehouse renovation, NYMAS’ customers will benefit from a wider range of products and quicker deliveries, with most products available for same day dispatch.

Craig said: “At NYMAS, our main priority is customer care, which is why we’re committed to continually improving our client experience and these developments will do just that.

“I would like to say a special thank you to all of our staff members for helping us to complete this refurb. Without their fantastic effort and hard work, we would not be where we are today.

“We are incredibly excited about the future of NYMAS and are now looking to pursue further investments to improve our internal processes so we can develop better and faster ways to meet our customers’ needs.”

The developments at NYMAS, which include the purchasing of a new forklift truck, conveyor system and vacuum lifting equipment, will further enhance the firm’s efficient service and will ensure a safe working environment for staff.

As a leading supplier of Doc M (Document M) compliant washroom packs, the firm has also invested in 40 metres of gravity conveyors to meet growing demand for these products. This equipment has improved the handling of these products by automating the process.

Stephen Heslop, business development director said: “We have big growth ambitions for the next three years and this refurb has helped to set the foundations in place so we can achieve our goals.”

After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the NYMAS executive leadership team delivered a trading update, which was followed by an inspiring talk from the mayor.

Speaking about the investment, Debbie said: “This project has been in the making for 12 months so it’s brilliant to see everything come together and to celebrate the official opening with the team.

“NYMAS is growing at a fast pace so we needed to streamline our operations and we have achieved just that.”
