Promotion for experienced utility specialist as Fulcrum expands Smart Metering team

Fulcrum, the leading independent net-zero focused multi-utility infrastructure and services provider, is strengthening the expertise within its smart metering team with the promotion of Matt Thomas to the newly created position of Operations Director for Smart Metering.

A highly experienced multi-utility professional, Matt joined Fulcrum four years ago as Head of Asset Management, overseeing the management of the gas and electricity infrastructure assets the company owns and maintains.

He progressed to become Asset Director, taking on overall responsibility for this area of the business and its team in 2020, before taking on this new role in Fulcrum’s expanding Smart Meter business.

The role has been created to expand the capabilities within the management of its meter points portfolio. Matt will work closely alongside Director of Smart Metering, Tim Houtby, who will focus on the continued growth of the division.

In just two years, Fulcrum has established relationships with a number of established energy suppliers to provide flexible metering services, further strengthening its position in the domestic Smart Metering market.

Operating with a full national engineering coverage, Fulcrum has also invested in an experienced management team for its Smart Metering operations to support its work with energy suppliers.

Matt will work in collaboration with Fulcrum’s energy supplier customers and manage its team, which includes engineers maintaining and repairing around 500,000 meter points across the country and also delivering Smart Meter exchange programmes.

“My experience in managing utility assets is transferable to this role as is my commitment to high levels of customer service. I began my career as an apprentice electrician working in the field and progressed up to Managing Director of a medium sized electrical contractor business. I know how important it is to provide the best possible service to our energy supplier customers and the public.
