Raise a glass to leading children’s charity at The Botanist

Guests at the Botanist in Leopold Square ,Sheffield, will be raising a glass for charity this month as the pub chain partners with a top UK Children’s organisation.

The city-centre bar’s operator, New World Trading Company (NWTC) has partnered with leading UK children’s charity Barnardo’s to raise funds by creating a show-stopper sharing dessert and limited edition cocktail with £1 from each going straight to the charity.
The mouth-watering ‘Plant Pot Sharer’ dessert (£9.50) was created in memory of a young boy called John Somers, who was turned away from Bernardo’s in 1873 and heartbreakingly died a few days later, inspiring Dr Barnardo’s motto “No Destitute Child Ever Refused Admission.” The child’s nickname was ‘carrots’. In homage, the plant pot is filled with carrot cake layered with rich cream cheese frosting and topped with chocolate ‘soil’.

The Botanist will also be serving ‘The Believer Cocktail’ (£7.50) exclusively for the partnership; a beautifully crafted gin punch marries together peach liquor with ginger, jasmine, lemon and pineapple. The finishing touches come courtesy of a kiwi fan, mint sprig and signature Botanist liquid pipette.

Jodie Osakwe, General Manager at The Botanist, Sheffield said: “We’re very proud to partner with Barnardo’s to create a limited edition dessert and cocktail.

“Drinkers and diners enjoying the new menu additions will be helping to support disadvantaged young people throughout the UK.”

Barnardo’s support bright futures for young people around the UK, no matter what the background. Their purpose is to transform the lives of the UK’s most vulnerable children. Whether this is supporting children on the streets, living in impoverished areas, with unwell parents, with disabilities, learning difficulties or mental health problems.
