Sim’s Kitchen opens first site in Team Valley

Richard Sim, Emilia Keladitis, Tim Witty and Chloe Lewis celebrate the opening of Sim's Kitchen

A healthy deli serving up a fresh menu of salads, sandwiches and cold meats, has opened in Enterprise House on the popular Team Valley trading estate.

The first joint business venture for foodie friends Emilia Keladitis, Chloe Lewis and renowned chef Richard Sim, Sim’s Kitchen is open to the public from 7am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Using fresh, seasonal and high-quality local ingredients, it boasts a wide-ranging menu with something for everyone.

As well as offering various breakfast options, a daily selection of sandwiches, salads and cuts of slow roast meats and fish, Sim’s Kitchen will also serve a range of speciality cakes that incorporate vegetables and healthier alternatives.

Hot and cold drinks are also on offer, including authentic Italian coffee and herbal teas, as well as fresh smoothies and juices made in the gastro kitchen.

Emilia Keladitis, joint owner of Sim’s Kitchen, said: “When I moved to the North East from London four years ago, I missed the variety of the food on offer. The North East has some fantastic local produce available, so from day one I wanted to open a deli that fully exploited this.

“As soon as I met Chloe and Richard and we got talking about our passion for food, I knew we would make a great team and, four years later, here we are opening our first deli together!

“I was always impressed by the Team Valley estate and the incredible mix of businesses here. We felt like we could add something different to the food offering and it made perfect sense to make this our first site.”

Co-founder Richard Sim, added: “Our concept is simply to prepare fresh food, using quality local and seasonal produce.

“Sim’s Kitchen serves the food that we love to eat ourselves and we will keep it interesting by mixing it up daily.”

Co-founder Chloe Lewis, added: “Like a lot of people, we have become more conscious and aware of what we eat. So while we haven’t cut out all the ‘naughties’, our intention is to offer our customers the option of a healthier alternative.”

Sim’s Kitchen is just one part of a multi-million-pound investment into Enterprise House by UK Land Estates, the largest commercial property investment and development company in the North East.

The shop – covering 900 sq ft – will join other neighbouring businesses such as Digital Allies, Genisys Technology Solutions and Nine Oak Financial Management already established in the recently redeveloped building.

Tim Witty, development director at UK Land Estates, said: “Sim’s Kitchen is another positive step in the development of our Team Valley estate – bringing new jobs and an exciting new food offering to our tenants and local residents.

“UK Land Estates has worked closely with Gradon Architecture and our letting agents Knight Frank and @Retail to create a high-quality development that offers businesses the space and amenities they need.

“Creating accessible, well maintained and well serviced environments for our tenants, is something that we are passionate about and we will continue investing in our sites in order to attract innovative and forward-thinking businesses to our region.”
