Sound support from Taylor&Emmet for new group

Sheffield’s Taylor&Emmet LLP is helping to launch a new networking and social group aimed exclusively at the local music industry.

The solicitors are one of three sponsors backing Sound City Social, a free event to benefit people working professionally in all aspects of the region’s music scene.

Held at Ambulo in the city centre’s Millennium Gallery on November 21, the evening initiative will begin with a question and answer discussion with a panel of music industry professionals, hosted by BBC Introducing producer, Adam Winch-Furness.

The organisers have lined up a number of expert panellists, including tour manager, Laura McClure of the Reverend and the Makers and Emily Moxon of Brownswood Recordings. There is then an opportunity to network to the sound of local artist and DJ Tom J Newell.

John Tunnard, an expert in media law at Taylor&Emmet, said: “We have a thriving and vibrant local music industry and establishing a close network of contacts is vital to all those forging careers within it. We believe that Sound City Social will bring economic and creative benefits for everyone involved, with the opportunity to both learn something and socialise with peers and likeminded individuals.”

Taylor&Emmet’s dedicated music and media law team offers a highly specialised service to artists, managers, producers and others in the creative industries. It provides advice on a range of issues, from band agreements and record deals to intellectual property.

Sound City Social will start at 7pm. Attendees are asked to register their interest in advance. Contact Taylor&Emmet for details.
