Huddersfield-based structural glass manufacturer Specialist Glass Products has won the Eaton Smith Business of the Year Award 2020/21.
Over the past 48 months, the family-run business has invested over £6 million to expand and equip their facility with the latest state-of-the-art machinery, currently allowing them to process, cut, toughen, bend and laminate glass up to 6000mm x 3210mm.
The continuous investment in high-tech equipment and its premises has effectively quadrupled SGP’s production capacity, ensuring that they can meet the requirements of larger projects, short lead times and produce glass cost-effectively.
With tremendous growth and development over the past 12-months, the specialist glass manufacturer was among eleven companies shortlisted for the Business of the Year Award after previously being crowned Business of the Month.
The award in Association with the Mid Yorkshire Chamber showcases the best businesses demonstrating innovation and outstanding contribution to Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield.
Deborah Melluish, Senior Partner at Eaton Smith and member of the judging panel said: “Specialist Glass Products is an incredibly impressive business that makes an important contribution to the region, not only in terms of employment but also in terms of profile. The judges were impressed with its commitment to innovation which has enabled it to compete for large contracts on an international scale.
“The investment that the management has put into the business is evident and some excellent decision making on their part has provided SGP with a very successful business and an exciting future.”
Andrew Taylor, joint Managing Director at SGP, commented on the award; “We’re so pleased that the judges have recognised our hard work and commitment to innovation. It has been an extremely difficult 18-months for the manufacturing industry, and we’d just like to say we are incredibly grateful for our hardworking employees and loyal customers who have supported us along the way.
“We are very excited about driving the future growth of SGP.”
