Stagecoach Encourages Sunderland Community To Make The Most Of Restaurant Week

Stagecoach North East supports Sunderland Restaurant Week with low cost evening travel across the city

Stagecoach North East is encouraging people across Sunderland to make the most of the forthcoming Restaurant Week and enjoy all that the city and its eating establishments have to offer.

Sunderland Restaurant Week – organised by the city’s Business Improvement District – takes place from Saturday 16 March until Sunday 24 March at over 40 bars, restaurants, cafes and bistros across the city and the local bus operator is keen to remind passengers about its low cost eveningrider ticket.

The special evening service allows customers to travel across Sunderland every evening for just £2 and is available from 7pm on all Stagecoach buses. The eveningrider service is also valid on the X24 service as far west as Hastings Hill and services E1, E2 and E6, as far as South Bents.

The value for money evening travel service provides a perfect opportunity for residents in Sunderland to visit some of the city’s best eateries, where they can dine out for as little as £5, £10 or £15 each. Anyone taking part is also encouraged to share their ‘foodie’ pictures using the hashtag #EatDrinkSunderland across social media.

Restaurants taking part include Amore Italia in the Cultural Quarter with three courses for £15, pan-American restaurant Karbon Grill on Vaux Brewery Way, Liberty Brown Pizza House Bar and Grill on Hylton Retail Park and Asian-fusion restaurant, Asiana overlooking the iconic Wearmouth Bridge.

Sharon Appleby, Head of Business Operations at Sunderland BID, said: “This will be our sixth restaurant week and we are delighted by the response once again from all of the business who are taking part. The popularity of Restaurant Week grows each time with more than 15,000 people enjoying it last September. We are looking forward to a great week once again. The city has so much to offer in terms of food and drink and Restaurant Week is a great way to showcase this.”

Steve Walker, Managing Director at Stagecoach North East, said: “This is an ideal chance for passengers to enjoy the atmosphere and great offers for Restaurant Week and we hope that as many people participate in this popular foodie event as possible and support the thriving restaurant scene.

“With our value for money eveningrider ticket, we encourage the local community to step out and sample the wide variety of cuisines on offer in Sunderland.”
