Tees Valley firm shortlisted in six categories in prestigious financial awards

The Active Team receiving the FSB North East Employer of the Year

Active Chartered Financial Planners is ending a successful year with a bang, after being shortlisted for six categories in the inaugural Yorkshire Financial Awards.

The firm, which was named North East Employer of the Year at the 2018 Federation of Small Businesses Awards in January and saw Chartered Independent Financial Adviser and Fellow Liza Pontone shortlisted for one of the Tees Businesswomen of the Year awards, has been shortlisted in a range of categories, both as a business and for individuals.

As a business, Active is shortlisted for the Best Employer and Financial Adviser Team of the Year awards. Managing Director, Karl Pemberton has been shortlisted for Director of the Year and fellow Director Paul Gibson is up for Independent Financial Adviser of the Year. Chartered Financial Planners Liza Pontone and Andrew Gilmore have also been shortlisted for awards, Outstanding Achievement and Rising Star respectively.

Active is the only firm in the Yorkshire Financial Awards 2019 to have been shortlisted in as many categories. They will find out the results at the awards ceremony, which takes place at Royal Armouries in Leeds on 21 February.

Karl Pemberton, Managing Director at Active Chartered Financial Planners, said: “2018 has been an incredible year for Active. We started the year being named North East Employer of the Year, eight members of the team have achieved significant professional qualifications, and we have ended the year with the purchase of our building and launch of our new brand. It has been financially successful, as well as delivering a wealth of client and employee satisfaction. The fact that we will be starting 2019 on the shortlist for six Yorkshire Financial Awards is the icing on the cake.

“The team has worked exceptionally hard to build up a brand that is respected within the region, well-liked among those who know us, and, most importantly, trusted to give crystal clear and impartial advice. I am delighted that this has been recognised by the judging panel, and I’m excited to see what the results are on the night.”

Andrew Gilmore, Chartered Financial Planner at Active, said: “It’s an honour to have been shortlisted for the Rising Star award at the Yorkshire Financial Awards. I was very surprised to find out I had been but forward, and humbled to be down to the final few in the running.

“The culture at Active is about delivering a gold standard service for our clients and being respected and treated well as a team. Our successes are celebrated and we share best practice. If I win on the night, it will be an award for the whole team, as we all support each other to do well.”
