The Great Taste of Manchester

Manchester-based premium snack brand Ten Acre has scooped two more stars in the prestigious Great Taste Awards 2017. It means that Ten Acre’s range of hand cooked crisps and popcorn now has a total of 10 Great Taste accolades.

Great Taste, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, is the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink awards – the ‘Oscars’ for the fine food and drink industry. More than 400 judges working in small teams, blind tasted 10,000 products – each one vying for an award.

Tony Goodman, CEO of Yumsh Snacks Ltd, the creators of Ten Acre, said: “We only ever want to produce snacks that taste exceptional. We are very proud of our Manchester roots and we are thrilled to be bringing home two more stars. Manchester is becoming more renowned for its food – especially in the plant-based community, and we want to continue to promote this aspect of the city!”

And the judges said…..
‘When the Pepper Crack’d’ hand cooked crisps – “A lovely golden colour with a really good distribution of pepper. The pepper provides a warmth which is not aggressive and it builds beautifully on the palate. We absolutely loved the texture of these crisps. The judges went back for more!” Star awarded

‘Lucia Popperley’s Cappuccino’ popcorn – “An enticing coffee aroma. The texture of this corn is great. The flavouring on this product is really well distributed and very clever. Wonderfully creamy.” Star awarded

From Manchester to the world…
Based in Manchester, the brand was recently selected by the government to be a North West Export Champion and the CEO encourages other local business to export. Ten Acre is exported to more than 40 countries around the globe, including Taiwan, Sierra Leone, Gambia and Canada.
