‘The Only Way is Essex’ star Lauren Pope added some extra glitz and glamour to the launch of Leeds’ newest restaurant and bar – East 59th – before stepping behind the decks herself for a special DJ performance.

The model, television star and DJ took centre stage at the exclusive opening party for the Manhattan-style venue, which is now open at the £165m Victoria Gate development. Also performing last night were beatboxers Bloxed Beatbox and the Ink Girls.

Lauren Pope is the first in an exciting line-up of DJs at East 59th, with big-name artists flying in from around the world to perform at the venue’s weekly music events.

Paul Rogers, Senior General Manager, said: “East 59th is a significant new addition for Leeds – not only in terms of its incredible food and drink offering and its stunning rooftop location, but also its outstanding line-up of DJs and weekly music events, which will offer everything from upbeat Latin vibes to chilled out tunes and everything in between.

“We’re incredibly excited to bring a taste of the Big Apple to Leeds and can’t wait for everyone to experience everything East 59th has to offer.”

The 5,400sq ft venue will launch its very own DJ night called La Discoteca on Saturday, July 15th with Pacha DJs Graham Sahara and Willie Graff flying in from Ibiza especially for the event.

East 59th, which is named after the street in New York where you can find D&D’s venue Guastavino’s, includes a stunning bar, restaurant and terrace offering panoramic city views.

It also offers American-inspired cocktails and food, with US classics such as burgers, bagels, ribs, steak and lobster. Brunch with free-flowing prosecco is also available on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 2pm, with dishes including the Manhattan Breakfast, waffle stacks with crispy smoked bacon and New York bagels.

East 59th is restaurant group D&D London’s fourth location in Leeds, following on from Crafthouse and Angelica at Trinity Leeds, and Issho – an authentic Japanese restaurant and bar located just next door to East 59th.
