Twisted rallies behind global Gumball 3000

Land Rover Defender specialist Twisted Automotive has agreed a three-year deal to become a major partner of Gumball 3000.

Known for attracting some of the world’s finest supercars, international celebrities, and motoring enthusiasts, the Gumball 3000 is one of the most iconic and super-charged international car rallies in the world.

Having previously sponsored the rally in 2013, Twisted Automotive branding returned to vehicles and course livery for the 2017 edition of the rally, which started in Riga, Latvia, and finished in Mykonos, Greece, and will feature in the 2018 and 2019 editions.

Attracting live crowds of over a million people, the annual rally is held along routes between major global cities, and is recognised as a benchmark event of the racing calendar, combining cars, music, fashion and entertainment.

Next summer, the global event celebrates its 20th anniversary and will start in London, and is guaranteed to be a landmark moment in the UK’s motoring calendar with competitors arriving with their supercars from all over the world. With the rally finishing in Tokyo, it’s set to be the most ambitious event yet.

Based in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, Twisted Automotive specialise in re-engineering the Defender to the best vehicle it can be.

Speaking about the landmark deal, Twisted Automotive managing director Charles Fawcett said: “Gumball 3000 is a world-renowned event that we are privileged to have been involved with before, so I am delighted to announce a formal partnership with the rally, as part of its exclusive sponsorship portfolio.

“I was lucky enough to take part in the race in 2013 and it was bonkers, but brilliant, and ten of the most fantastic days of my life. The Twisted Team had another superb experience at Gumball this year, and the vehicles – mud, scrapes, and all – have just arrived back to us in Thirsk.”

Gumball 3000 head of partnerships, Jim Jamieson, said: “We are incredibly proud to call Twisted a partner to Gumball 3000. The DNA of ‘eclectic adventurer’ is common to both brands and we love to promote British companies as we travel the world.

“The vehicle stood out as a real crowd favourite this year and we can’t wait to see the Iconic Defender® on display in central Tokyo next year.”

Headquartered in London, Gumball 3000 was founded in 1999 by British entrepreneur Maximillion Cooper.

The event has since evolved into a global entertainment company, which attracts licensing collaborations and official partnerships from Governments and blue-chip corporations, including Nike, Intel, Sony PlayStation, Hasbro, MTV, Google and Fiat.

Celebrity attendees have included David Hasselhoff, Snoop Dogg, David Guetta, Tony Hawk and Dennis Rodman.

Today’s sponsorship announcement follows the recent launch of the business’s new Classic Twisted range, which distills Twisted’s most popular vehicle modifications into a single range of vehicles that are built ready to drive away.
