Wakefield family lawyer shortlisted for prestigious national award

Linsey McDonald, who works in the Family Law Division at Switalskis Solicitors’ Wakefield office, has been shortlisted in the Family Law Legal Executive of the Year category of the 2019 Family Law Awards.

For the last nine years, the awards have recognised the work of family lawyers and celebrated their successes and outstanding achievements. Areas in which the judges have marked Linsey out as exceptional include her successes with vulnerable clients, where she puts children at the heart of what she does. They have also highlighted her pro bono work for local authorities, where she provides advice to people who may not normally have access to legal support. Linsey also holds advice clinics covering topics such as divorce, children, ancillary relief and domestic violence.

Linsey says: “I’m excited to be shortlisted along with so many other talented and hard-working family law practitioners. I enjoy helping the families I come into contact with and will always fight the corner of those I represent.”

As well as carrying out her role at Switalskis, Linsey has featured as a guest speaker on topics such as wellbeing for parents affected by mental ill-health. She has also founded a no pressure women’s networking event in North Yorkshire called ‘The Three C’s’, which aims to pursue gender equality and encourages women to come together and build solid relationships with each other, before business.

Clare Peckett, Director for Family Law at Switalskis, says: “This is fantastic recognition of all the hard work and dedication that Linsey puts into her work. Time and time again I see her giving everything for those she represents. In a company full of exceptionally talented solicitors, Linsey’s dedication and work ethic make her stand out. We wish her the best of luck at the awards.”

The awards ceremony takes place on 27 November at The Ballroom in London.
