Wigan lady lands registered manager role with Alcedo

Jessica Armand

Jessica Armand, from Wigan, has been appointed as manager by Alcedo Care Group at its recently opened Wigan office, located at Beecham Court

Jessica joined Alcedo nearly two years ago as a home carer. She was given the opportunity to develop her career quite quickly, progressing to a trainer position and now deputy manager. The company also allows Jessica to further her education, having completed her NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care and NVQ Level 3 in Teaching & Education. She is now working towards her NVQ Level 5 in Health & Social Care.

Jessica was initially attracted to Alcedo as the company offered her flexibility around her studies. She also liked the family feel and how Alcedo really values each and every member of staff, providing support and opportunities for progression.

Having fallen in love with health and social care, Jessica has decided not to go to university as planned, but to develop her career at Alcedo, working her way up at one of the North West’s leading home care providers.

In her new role Jessica is tasked with the day-to-day management of the Wigan office, which includes answering queries from customers, supporting staff out in the field and ensuring the office remains CQC compliant as well as adhering to Alcedo’s policies and procedures.

In the next few years, Jessica hopes to gain ‘outstanding’ in the next CQC inspection of the Wigan office and to achieve her own CQC registration.

Jessica says: “I am thrilled to have been appointed as manager at the Wigan office. It’s a great challenge for me personally and a fantastic new step in my caring career. I have loved working at Alcedo Care over the course of the last 18 months or so and am looking forward to developing my career further with the firm.”

Andy Boardman, Managing Director at Alcedo Care, adds: “We are renowned for supporting our team members, offering them all career progression and education. Jessica is a wonderful example of a young lady embarking upon a very fulfilling career in care at Alcedo, and we are proud of all she has achieved so far and wish her well in her new role in Wigan.”

Away from work, Jessica enjoys long walks and adventures with her boyfriend in The Lakes or the Peak District. She also loves spending time with family and friends, as well as sitting down with a good book.

Established in 2017, Alcedo Care offers Domiciliary Care Services, Live-in Care, Nurse-Led Complex Care Services, Supported Living and Children’s Services, and has fast gained an enviable reputation as the home care provider of choice in the North West thanks to its superb 700-strong team of highly skilled and compassionate carers who make a tangible difference to the quality of life of the company’s home care clients.

Run by passionate husband and wife team, Andy and Jo Boardman, and with the support of their fantastic management team, the company is expanding at pace and aims to double in size over the next 12 months with the recruitment of more than 1,000 new carers.
