Women At CBRE North West Are Industry Trailblazers

Frankie Isherwood and Megan Hanney

Two rising stars from CBRE’s North West team are trailblazing the property industry and leading the way for women in business. Frankie Isherwood and Megan Hanney from the firm’s Manchester office have respectively secured a national property award and delivered a MIPIM PropTech presentation in Paris, as part of CBRE’s commitment to recognizing and fast-tracking talent.

Frankie Isherwood, a Senior Surveyor in Manchester’s Investment Properties team has won the WeAreTheCity national Rising Star award. Frankie was one of 10 women shortlisted, including four from CBRE, for the Property Construction and Facilities Management Award. Now in its fifth year, the Rising Star Awards, run by professional women’s career hub, WeAreTheCity, is the only award ceremony of its kind to focus solely on the achievements of women below management level.

Frankie has proved a valuable asset to the company since joining the firm on the graduate training scheme in 2015 after graduating from Oxford Brookes University with a Masters in Real Estate. As well as her day job, Frankie has acted as CBRE Manchester’s ‘Charity Champion’ organising a number of fundraising events and she has also been involved as a mentor at Manchester Enterprise Academy and delivered seminars at University of Manchester to promote the property industry.

Megan Hanney, a Graduate Surveyor in the Office Agency team was invited to deliver a key presentation on Blockchain at MIPIM PropTech in Paris on 1 July to discuss the impact and potential of blockchain and tokenization on the commercial real estate sector. The panel was organised by the British Property Federation and was moderated by Dan Hughes, CEO of Liquid Real Estate Innovation.

Megan talked about the use cases for blockchain within commercial real estate and included an update of recent global use cases and the expected impact on commercial real estate clients. Megan presented alongside Rob Bould, Non-Executive Director at IPSX (and former CEO at GVA) and Pete Bird, Co-founder of PropCoin.

Megan has also been shortlisted for two Estates Gazette (EG) Awards, celebrating a number of individuals and businesses at the forefront of innovation. The EG Awards will take place in London in October and Megan is a finalist for the Rising Star and The Future of Real Estate (Individual) awards.

CBRE Manchester has also recently provided full sponsorship for Megan and colleague Alexandra Bright, a Senior Surveyor in the Development Consultancy team, to study the Blockchain Strategy Course at Said Business School, part of the University of Oxford, which they will complete in July.

As a leading commercial real estate business, CBRE is fully committed to equal opportunities and this ethos is evident from the top down. The company employs 40 women across its North West offices, including 4 Heads of service lines in Project Management, Lease Consultancy, Valuation and Northern Residential Sales & Marketing.

John Ogden, Managing Director of CBRE’s North West business, commented;

We are proud to have four nominees among the 10 women shortlisted in the Property Construction and Facilities Management category of the Rising Star awards, and it’s fantastic that Frankie was one of the five overall winners.

“Megan joined the CBRE team last year and has quickly shown her talent, already making her mark as a valuable and respected member of the business.
