Yorkshire-based payments provider wins prestigious award

A Brighouse-based businessman has won a prestigious regional business award at the Halifax Courier Awards 2017.

James Howard, founder and managing director of Yorkshire Payments, has been named ‘Business Person of the Year’ for 2017.

The awards, which took place at The Venue in Barkisland, Halifax on Friday 1st December 2017, celebrated business successes in the region.

The ‘Business Person of the Year’ category focuses on a business person that demonstrates clear leadership qualities, with a strong financial understanding of running a business, as well as being willing to mentor colleagues and other business people, and be a visionary in their field.

Founded in 2013, James established Yorkshire Payments with a vision to provide safe and secure payment solutions to a range of businesses across the region.

The award comes following a record year of growth for Yorkshire Payments, which saw an impressive £32.3 million go through the company’s systems in March 2017 alone. 97% of this figure included transactions from across Yorkshire.

Having also been awarded emerging entrepreneur at BQ Live’s Emerging Entrepreneur awards earlier this year, and shortlisted for a further two awards, the company has a glowing reputation and promising future for further growth.

Commenting his award win, James Howard said:

“I am incredibly proud to have been named business person of the year, this is a huge moment for me. It is fantastic to be recognised for the five years of hard work and dedication that has been put into this business.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to my amazing team because without their support, this would not have been possible”
