Yorkshire based Smokehouse expansion drive with £3.9m funding deal

Bleiker’s Smokehouse

North Yorkshire based Bleiker’s Smokehouse Ltd is set for a period of further growth after securing a £3.9m funding deal with Yorkshire Bank. The funding will increase the business’s processing capacity and efficiency at their site in Leeming Bar as well as boosting working capital.

Bleiker’s Smokehouse was formed in 1993 and is a second generation, family run business. The long-standing family smokehouse is well known in North Yorkshire and has become one of the leading Smoked Salmon brands in the UK. The funding will support the company’s growth ambitions.

Bleiker’s Smokehouse has achieved significant growth over the last few years as the business gained distribution with national supermarket & convenience chains such as Morrisons, Aldi & Spar and further funding was needed to create a new hot-smoking production unit and provide additional smoking capacity to fulfil increasing customer demand. The company’s turnover is on track to jump from £12m to £20m within the next 5 years.

Brian De Vere, Relationship Manager for Yorkshire Bank, said: “We appreciate the opportunity to   provide the funding to help this family run local business with their ambitious growth plans. They have a fantastic reputation and it’s rewarding to know we have been able to make a contribution to their future success. We look forward to working with the team at Bleiker’s Smokehouse as they continue to grow.

Charlie Andrew, Managing Director of Bleiker’s Smokehouse Ltd, said: “We are delighted to begin our partnership with Yorkshire Bank and are really pleased with the financial package they have provided. We have experienced significant growth in the last few years and, given our plans for further expansion, not only are we excited to work with a bank that best fits our current needs but also one that will be a supportive banking partner in the next phase of our business development.”
