Yorkshire property agent taps into trend of Londoners heading north

Toby Cockcroft

Yorkshire estate agent Croft Residential, which is based in York and specialises in selling exclusive, unusual and historic homes, is capitalising on the growing numbers of homebuyers in London who are looking to buy properties in the north, by teaming up with a digital property network in the capital.

LonRes is a network of 6,000 London agents representing more than 100,000 homebuyers. In a recent survey 86% of its London agent members said that they have vendors looking to move outside of London, with Yorkshire a prime destination.

Croft Residential director Toby Cockcroft said: “For quite a while now we have been seeing growing numbers of enquiries from prospective buyers currently based in London who are interested in properties in Yorkshire.

“Adding factors such as Channel 4’s imminent arrival in Leeds into the mix will undoubtedly serve to fuel that trend and our link with LonRes will enable us to market our properties in the north directly to those Londoners who are planning to relocate.

“Yorkshire is definitely going from strength to strength as a region and rapid rail travel from London, significantly lower house prices up north, combined with the excellent quality of life and outstanding schools in places such as York and Harrogate all add up to a winning combination for people looking to migrate north.”

He added: “We’re looking forward to working with our fellow agents in London to help people make the move and, through our membership of LonRes, would also be able to help out any northerners looking to move down south.”

Croft Residential, which was founded by Mr Cockcroft in 2010, reported record £40m sales for the third quarter of this year. The award-winning firm currently manages a £160m portfolio of properties across the north of England. They include a 200-acre North Yorkshire country estate, and a development site for 80 homes in Green Hammerton.
