Yorkshire housebuilder supports animal rescue centre

Continuing its support of the communities in which it builds, leading housebuilder, David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, has donated £300 to Thornberry Animal Sanctuary in Sheffield, to help care for and rehome animals looked after by the centre. To celebrate the donation, the housebuilder invited some of the centre’s four-legged residents, and their two-legged friends, to a ribbon-cutting event, officially opening the new Show Homes at its Gateford Park development in Worksop.

Thornberry Animal Sanctuary, which is celebrating its 30th birthday this year, is dedicated to rescuing and rehoming animals in the South Yorkshire region. David Asbery, Vice Chair to the Board of Trustees and animal carer Laura Cutts at Thornberry Animal Sanctuary recently visited Gateford Park with Barry, a 10 year old neutered Staffordshire bull terrier cross, who has been at the sanctuary since September last year. They attended to collect a cheque from Sales Adviser, Katy Cushing, and to officially open the brand new Show Homes, which launched on the 9th June 2018.

David commented: “We are extremely grateful to David Wilson Homes for their donation. Thornberry Animal Sanctuary relies heavily on funding from local businesses and people to enable us to give animals in need the best possible care. The donation is particularly special as we celebrate our 30th birthday this year – we look forward to the next 30 years of helping to rehome animals in the area. Barry thoroughly enjoyed his trip to Gateford Park and we are honoured that we were asked to open the Show Homes which look brilliant!”

Katy said: “It is very important to us that we support the local communities near our developments, so we are very proud to have donated to such a worthy cause. We were delighted to have such special guests visit to open the new Show Homes, they seemed to have lots of fun too! We’re looking forward to welcoming more animals to the development as families settle in and bring their own four-legged friends or add to their households. Now the Show Homes are officially open people can visit and see what life at Gateford Park is like.”
