New owners for Barnoldswick pub

Carol Boothman, landlady at The Fountain in Barnoldswick will be hanging up her beer mats as she leaves the pub in early September.

Following the sale of the pub, The Fountain will change hands at the beginning of next month. The rest of the team will stay on behind the bar and in the kitchen.

The Fountain Inn stood empty for a number of years before Carol invested in the building to create a pub, restaurant and 9-room Bed and Breakfast. The project was self-funded and began a period of investment across the town, with several other eateries opening in the past 2 years.

Carol says, “I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported The Fountain during my time there. I’ve made some lifelong friends, both staff and patrons, and I’ll miss spending time with them every day. I won’t miss the early mornings or very late nights through!”

“I’ve had a brilliant 5 years at The Fountain, and even longer if you include the time involved in the renovations to the building after I bought it. We gutted the pub to make room for the restaurant, bar and 9 guest bedrooms after it had been empty for a number of years. The cow wallpaper and grass dancefloor are two of my favourite parts of the pub, and I’ll miss dancing with all the patrons on Thursday music nights.” says Carol.

Carol is celebrating her 5+ years as landlady with live music all afternoon on Sunday 3rd September. Rockpawn, Bob & Bo and many more special guests will be playing, continuing the support The Fountain has shown to local musical talent since it re-opened back in 2012.
