West Cumbrian Business In Line For Top National Event Technology Award

A Cumbrian digital solutions provider has been shortlisted for the most prestigious awards in the world of event-focused technology and will now battle it out, with two other businesses, for the award itself.

Flame Concepts Ltd, based in Cockermouth, has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Ticketing Technology’ category of the Event Technology Awards 2017. The winner will be revealed on November 9 at a gala dinner held at Troxy, London.

These awards, now in their fifth year, recognise the achievements of companies that deliver digital and technological solutions to those companies, authorities or businesses that organise some form of event requiring online ticketing.

Flame Concepts has been shortlisted because it has developed intuitive software that enables it to address each client’s needs on a case-by-case basis, taking into account a client’s individual brief and budget. It has also merged its in-depth knowledge of three areas – technology, tourism and event management – to create highly advanced ticketing and web services that ignite the events they support.

Flame Concepts’ clients range from entertainment venues to county fairs and from sporting events to science festivals. It defines ‘ticketing’ in the broadest sense, including access control, easy-to-use payment mechanisms, enhanced security, website design and social media integration within its definition. Unlike many competitors, it also facilitates advanced reporting and the gathering of visitor intelligence. When it talks about delivering an online box office, this statement is underpinned by a plethora of other technological capabilities.

Flame Concepts’ managing director, Steve Bishop, says: “The news of this shortlisting comes just a week or so after learning that we have been shortlisted for the local Business Energy Coast Business Cluster Awards 2017. This means our dedicated team could be rewarded twice over, which would be totally deserved, as we are doing something very different and have raised the bar in our sector nationwide, from our West Cumbrian headquarters.

“Our technological solutions are such that we have attracted clients from County Durham to Denmark and from Abingdon to Ambleside. There are some big brand names in our sector, but our technology is better and more receptive to a client’s needs than that which they offer. We just need to get that message across and hope that the biggest events in Britain are listening. Our Event Technology Awards’ shortlisting may enable us to do that.”
