Manchester-based Coolair Equipment Ltd has donated new air conditioning systems to a charity for disadvantaged youngsters.

The air conditioning and heating installation specialist teamed up with its long-standing property maintenance partner, Integral UK, to answer a call for help to support a youth centre run by the Cathie Stankevitch Foundation in Widnes.

The air conditioning units for the building, which includes an office and a function room, will enable local disadvantaged children to make new friends, enjoy physical activities and learn new skills in comfort all year round.

Without Coolair support, the charity would have been unable to afford to keep the building cool in summer and warm in winter and ensure the comfort of the 90 to 110 members that take part in youth club sessions each week.

Coolair, which has its headquarters in Dukinfield and offices in Cannock and Maidstone, funded and fitted two energy efficient ductless split systems from Mitsubishi Electric that use the latest heat pump technology to heat and cool both the office and the function room as required.

Integral provided the power supplies for both systems, which were assembled, fitted and commissioned by Coolair in only five days during the winter.

Scott Lightfoot, National Account Manager for Coolair Equipment, said: “We were quick to respond to the appeal from such a great local charity, especially after we learned that it was having to regularly close its facility in temperature extremes because it had no air conditioning.”

John Stankevitch of the Cathie Stankevitch Foundation said: “The charity is delighted that Coolair has provided us with AC units which means that our youth club attendees can now enjoy sessions fully. We work with the most vulnerable kids in our community to help them improve their lives and this winter thanks to Coolair we haven’t had to cancel a single session due to the cold.

“We are now looking forward to the summer months, with the warm nights being a great opportunity to keep the kids engaged with some physical activities, with the AC units there to cool everyone after their exertions.”
