A double win for Louis-James Davis – VST Enterprises’ CEO takes home the gold at the Made In Manchester Awards 2018

VST Enterprises’ CEO and founder, Louis-James Davis, had much to celebrate last week as he took home the trophy for Entrepreneur of the Year and the coveted Chairman’s Rising Star Award at the Made in Manchester Awards 2018.

The Made in Manchester Awards celebrate the best in young and local talent at a glamourous awards ceremony, recognising outstanding contributions in 14 categories, including excellence in innovation, entrepreneurial spirit, training and development and leadership.

Louis-James retired from professional drumming in 2009 after a rare bout of pneumonia took him away from mainstream performance. He turned his passion for technology into entrepreneurial momentum and went on to develop a completely new scannable code that’s making strides in the fight against counterfeit, fraud and money laundering: VCode®.

Louis’ entrepreneurial spirit, strategic vision and leadership has seen him create a multi-million pound business with worldwide presence in an incredibly short timescale – and it was this drive that saw him receive the Chairman’s Rising Star Award.

On his award win, Louis commented: “It’s a huge honour to have come away on the night with not one but two awards. I’m so proud of everything I’ve achieved with my team at VST Enterprises, and we’re looking forward to an even stronger year ahead.

“The tech scene is growing up exponentially in Manchester at the moment. I’m happy to be showing the world what we have to offer.”

Chair of future pro-manchester, Claire Sofield, said: “The Made in Manchester Awards give us an opportunity to highlight and reward the amazing young professionals we have in Manchester.

“Manchester is full of ambitious talented individuals who want to work together to create a thriving economy and I think that makes Manchester a great place to do business.”

A dedicated philanthropist and proud Mancunian, Louis is committed to helping the next generation gain entrepreneurial skills whatever their background. As well as being a Creative, Digital & Health Care Technology Ambassador for the Manchester Metropolitan University & Ambassador for KidScan Children’s Cancer Trust, he’s also hosted a series of events, formerly known as In The City.

VST Enterprises (VSTE) is the company behind VCode and the VPlatform. Headquartered in Manchester, the company has international offices in New York, Reno, Hong Kong, Armenia, New Delhi and South Africa.

VCode represents the next generation of code scanning technology – an evolutionary step forward from traditional barcodes and QR Codes. A VCode can be scanned from over 100 metres, with a 70:1 distance to size scan ratio, at 160 degree angles, on and from moving objects, and upon any multimedia or television screen and even when they are microscopic on bank notes or minerals. This allows users to access exclusive content, check the validity of an item and make purchases while on the move.

Supporting the VCode app is the VPlatform – a secure, cloud-based portal that allows users to create VCodes and manage the content they lead to. The VPlatform also provides users with real-time analytics on who scanned their VCodes, and when and where the scans took place.

On top of this, the VPlatform enables push notifications and rewards to be sent back to individuals who have made VCode scans, offering opportunities for brands to significantly enhance engagement levels with their client base.
