Costcutter deal sees Preston forecourt giant move into general retail

A Preston retail services company has secured its first major national account in the convenience sector.

Suresite has signed an agreement to offer access to payment card processing services to the UK-wide stores operated by the Costcutter Supermarkets Group.

The Millennium City Park-based SME has operated in the card services industry since 2005, but this is the first move into general retail.

Suresite has until now served as a specialist – and the largest – provider to the petrol forecourt sector. Last year, it processed over £2 billion card transactions.

David Wright, card services manager, Suresite, said: “We have spent over a decade building payment card expertise in forecourts, becoming the biggest and most respected provider to that sector.

“We have made the decision to now market our service wider to the general retailer and the Costcutter opportunity represents a fantastic launch pad.

“It is a prominent brand to be associated with and we will be able to offer Costcutter, Mace and Supershop store retailers exceptional rates that will help them to strengthen earnings.”

Mike Hollis, retail director at Costcutter Supermarkets Group, said: “Suresite offered us the promise of great value payment card processing, combined with first class customer service and technical support. This supports our ambition to constantly improve the support we are offering our independent retailers.”

Suresite, an employer of 49, was launched in Fulwood by company chairman Geoff Oldham in 1994. In the fuel industry it has longstanding contracts with Certas, Greenergy, JET, Harvest Energy.
