Directors of Yorkshire Security Firm to Cycle 125 Miles For Homeless Charity

The directors of Heald Limited, a perimeter security firm based in East Yorkshire, are cycling 125 miles to Mont Saint-Michel in France to raise funds for UK based homeless charity, Emmaus.

At the end of April, Debbie and Rod Heald will embark on the 125-mile journey to raise money for the charity, which offers meaningful work and a sense of belonging to people who have experienced homelessness and social exclusion. Emmaus’ communities offer a home for as long as someone needs it enabling the opportunity to get back into meaningful employment, with 79% of companions saying that working and having something to do every day has been the most beneficial part of their experience.

Setting off from Portsmouth, Debbie and Rod will take the Ferry across to France before embarking on their journey to their destination. This follows on from a similar challenge the pair undertook last year where they cycled from Kent to Paris raising over £4,200 for Stem4 and Cancer Research UK.

Commenting on choosing to support Emmaus, Debbie Heald said: “While visiting large cities throughout the UK, especially in the cold winter months, we found it heartbreaking to see how some people have to live. We wanted to try and help in some way that would give real prospects for a long-term change in homeless people’s lives. Emmaus provides excellent support for the homeless and strives to help individuals make changes to improve their lives, which we fully support.”
