Eaglescliffe pharmacy sold to expanding local operator

Following on from its recent acquisition of Healthways pharmacy in Hartlepool, expanding independent pharmacy operator Pharmacy Express has further strengthened its Teesside offering with the acquisition of Burrell’s Pharmacy located in Eaglescliffe, Stockton-on-Tees, which was completed with the help of Mincoffs Solicitors’ and Christie & Co’s specialist pharmacy teams.

This latest acquisition adds to Pharmacy Express’ growing portfolio of independent pharmacies in the region, currently covering Middlesbrough, Thornaby, Kelloe, Eaglescliffe and Hartlepool with continued expansion targeted for the near future.

Asif Alrahi, director of Pharmacy Express said of the acquisition “The latest addition to our portfolio of community pharmacies will help us to continue to provide high quality service and work with local businesses to try and positively influence the health and wellbeing of our community. Mincoffs and Christie & Co were integral to achieving a successful outcome for the latest acquisition and securing the best deal for Pharmacy Express to continue our expansion.”

Chris Hughes, Associate Solicitor at Mincoffs Solicitors who led advice to Pharmacy Express on the acquisition commented: “Pharmacy Express prides itself on running local, independent pharmacies in the heart of communities and we are delighted to be working closely with the business in delivering its expansion plans. We wish Asif, Mana and the team the best of luck for their continuing endeavours and look forward to seeing the business’ evolution over the coming years.”

Karl Clezy, Director at Christie & Co comments, “the seller opted for an off-market deal and asked if we could find a suitable buyer that would meet his price expectations. We did so within a day as we knew Asif and Mana at Pharmacy Express were keen to expand in this area, having sold another pharmacy in Eaglescliffe to them a few years back.”
