Entrepreneur brings fast-growing gin event to Yorkshire

A Leeds-based businesswoman will introduce Scotland’s fastest-growing gin event to Yorkshire on Sunday 6th May 2018.

Founder of The Gin Fayre, Jasmine Wheelhouse launched the event in St Andrews, Scotland in 2017. The Gin Fayre is now expanding across the North of England and will take place at Wetherby Town Hall during May bank holiday weekend this year.

Between the hours of 12pm and 8pm, visitors will enjoy a selection of the finest distilleries from across the world, with masterclasses, cocktails, goody bags and free samples.

The Gin Fayre has already hosted five sell-out events across Scotland in 2017 and has added a further eleven events across the UK to the diary in 2018.

The Gin Fayre: Wetherby will be home to a variety of gin brands from across the Yorkshire region, including Cooper King Distillery, Greystone Gin from The Harewood Food & Drink Project, Raisthorpe Manor and brands from further afield, including Ink Gin from Australia.

A serial entrepreneur, Jasmine Wheelhouse, explains:

“My heart and roots have always been in Yorkshire, which is why we’ve decided to bring the event to three locations in the county, starting with Wetherby. With the exception of studying in Scotland and a very brief stint working in London, I have lived in Leeds all my life. I am familiar with the area and am delighted to bring The Gin Fayre – and our fantastic distillers – a little closer to home!

“We have been overwhelmed with The Gin Fayre’s success in Scotland and hope to emulate this in other parts of the UK. The Gin Fayre gives people the opportunity to try before they buy, as well as offer the distillers a direct route to market.

“The event was created with people in mind who wanted learn more about what they are drinking, the flavours, varieties and the process of distilling gin, without the price tag of buying numerous bottles from the supermarket.”
