Forward ladies inspiring leader award for MD of Leeds nursing agency

Leanne Silverwood, Managing Director of Local Care Force, has been announced as the regional winner of the Inspiring Leader Award at the Forward Ladies Women in Business Awards 2017. The awards recognise the country’s most successful women in business.

The ceremony, sponsored by HSBC, took place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Newcastle, before an audience of senior and influential business leaders. Leanne’s regional success means she is also shortlisted for the national award. The winner of this will be announced at a grand finale, in Leeds, on the 1st December.

Forward Ladies Managing Director, Griselda Togobo, said: “The calibre of entries has been increasing year on year, but this year we had a number of outstanding entries and it was a wonderful afternoon of celebration and sharing their remarkable success. The standard of all our shortlisted entries was truly exceptional.”

A former health care professional, Leanne Silverwood founded Local Care Force 13 years ago. The company supplies workers to the nursing, healthcare and social care sectors. Having originally worked in mental health care Leanne saw that she could improve the industry by creating a genuinely caring agency that provided quality, trained and well-supported staff. Local Care Force now has over 50 employers and over 1800 staff working for them. The business has offices in Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester, with a York branch on the horizon.

Leanne comments: “I always aim to inspire and lead my team in a positive, nurturing and honest way so it’s very rewarding to see these efforts recognised. I look forward to the national finals and meeting the other inspirational women shortlisted!’’

This award win tops off an incredibly successful year for Local Care Force having been awarded 21st place in the Sunday Times 100 Best Small Companies to work for and also being shortlisted for a national Nursing Times award for Patient Safety.
