Huddersfield plumbing and electrical firm nominated for Best Independent Business award

Metro eco has been nominated for a Yorkshire Choice Award

A Huddersfield heating and plumbing specialist has been nominated for a Yorkshire Choice Award.

Metro eco, which has worked in the plumbing, heating and electrical trades in Yorkshire for 45 years, has been nominated in the Best Independent Business category – but needs public votes to help it win.

The company launched in Huddersfield in 1974 and covers electrical work, plumbing, boilers, gas and heating for both homeowners and business owners. It directly employs its engineers and insists upon a high level of qualification, rather than relying on external contractors, which has led to it being a Which? recommended Trusted Trader for the last five years, with a consistently high review score. Metro eco also helps raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind through its ‘Pound for a Puppy’ campaign.

Spanning 12 categories, the Yorkshire Choice Awards aim to recognise and raise awareness of local people and independent businesses that are inspirational in the markets they serve. It also raises money for local charities including Martin House Children’s Hospice, The Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund, St Gemma’s Hospice and Bethany’s Smile. This year’s charity partner is Simon on the Streets, which offers street-based emotional and practical support for those sleeping rough in Leeds, Bradford, and Huddersfield. Voting can be done online at the Yorkshire Choice Awards website.

David Shaw of Metro eco said: “We are delighted to be nominated for a Yorkshire Choice Award. Our team works extremely hard to ensure customers receive the very best quality of service and care and so it’s fantastic for them to receive this recognition. We would love to bring the award back to Huddersfield when the winners are announced in March, so if anyone could spare a couple of minutes to vote for us, we’d be hugely grateful.”
