Local MP Visits Award Winning Preston Housing Development

Barratt Homes Manchester welcomed Fylde MP Mark Menzies to its award-winning Cottam Meadow development in Preston, Lancashire.

The homebuilder invited constituency MP Mr Menzies to see Barratt Homes Manchester’s 104-home development on Canberra Lane.

Cottam Meadow brings an attractive collection of houses to the area and has achieved the Built for Life Outstanding Award, which is only given to a handful of other sites in the country.

During his visit Mr Menzies spent time meeting the team behind Cottam Meadow and discussing the new homes with Managing Director of Barratt Manchester, Neil Goodwin.

He was keen to learn about the Built for Life Concept, which means homes can be easily adapted for families at different stages of their lives.

Neil said: “We were delighted to welcome Mark Menzies onto the site and discuss our award-winning development. It was great to show him the plan for Cottam Meadow when it is completed and discuss our commitment to Preston.”
The Built for Life award recognises the development’s potential to flourish as a popular new community.

The Built for Life award recognises the development’s potential to flourish as a popular new community.

Built for Life is the new industry standard, endorsed by the Government for well-designed homes and neighbourhoods, based on a 12-point system, meaning developments must satisfy all 12 categories to achieve the award.

Mr Menzies said, “I was really impressed by the Built for Life concept. These are high-quality homes for young families which can be easily adapted for people as they get older, ensuring people can stay in their homes for longer.
“They look striking and these homes are an ideal opportunity for families looking for a new start in Preston. I’m grateful to Barratt Homes Manchester and the team for inviting us to have first-hand experience these homes for life.”

Cottam Meadow is an award-winning development of two, three, four and five-bedroom family homes. In designing these homes, focus has been on creating sustainable, contemporary living – perfect for a home that’s a bit different.

Homes at Cottam Meadow have also been built meeting the 16 criteria of Lifetime Homes standard, meaning they are being designed to cater for residents throughout different milestones in their lives.

This means they’re ideal for growing families and disabled people as their doorways are larger meaning it is easier to get a pram or wheelchair in and out of the house. The level access paths leading into the homes also help to make it a smooth transition.

When it comes to location, few can beat Cottam Meadow. The development is close to Preston city centre whilst also being less than half an hour from the seaside. Plus, the great local schools within walking distance will make the morning school run that bit easier.
