MWA’s Yummy Development in Award Shortlist

Martin Walsh Architectural (MWA), the Dewsbury based Architects, has been nominated for the Project of the Year at the 2018 Yorkshire and Humber Constructing Excellence Awards following their work on Yummy Yorkshire, one of Yorkshires most popular ice-cream parlours and eateries.

MWA delivered a two-story barn conversion alongside a single-story extension at Yummy Yorkshire with the finished product featuring a new ground floor dining space, ice cream servery, washroom facilities and an elevated dining area, taking advantage of Yummy Yorkshire’s exceptional views.

MWA worked closely with Radcliffe Construction and Concorde BGW throughout the process and both parties were able to complete the project on time against a strict and tight deadline. The finished results delivered an improved customer flow and the dining experience also keeping the ice cream parlour and café operational throughout the build process.

Matt Robinson, Technical Director for MWA, comments: “It’s a real honour to be nominated within the Yorkshire and Humber Constructing Excellence Awards, especially within the project of the year category, an accolade which we know is hugely competitive and equally sought after. The competition this year is incredibly tough but is an excellent example of the work that is being carried out across Yorkshire – which we are incredibly proud to be a part of.”

“Yummy Yorkshire was a fantastic project to work on and is a brilliant showcase of our work. The finished product is now a light and open space which offers the perfect dining experience and really makes the most of the exceptional views that Yummy Yorkshire and the Hide & Hoof restaurant has to offer.”

The Yorkshire and Humber Constructing Excellence Awards celebrate the very best of local architecture and construction, it will take place at the Queens Hotel in Leeds on 12th July.
