A North-East transport and storage company has been recognised with the Staples Award for Delivery Excellence in 2018.
The family-run, Cramlington-based company is celebrating the shock-win at the Pall-Ex annual awards in Nottingham. Pall-Ex Group is a network for palletised freight distribution, its annual awards are coveted across the industry.
Moody Logistics won the Award for Delivery Excellence in 2018 from Staples, which is one of Pall-Ex’s biggest customers. The award was based on the company’s performance over an eight-week period in the run up to Christmas.
Staples has recently expanded its service range to incorporate a storage and distribution division, serving customers such as Jewson, Adidas and Saint-Gobain.
Through the Pall-Ex network, Moody’s, over the eight-week period, was making deliveries on behalf of Staples and its customers – ranging from office supplies and clothing to building materials.
Kevin Lewis, Supply Chain Director UK and Ireland at Staples Solutions, said: “Staples were keen to not pick a depot that did one great thing. But to recognise a depot that does great things – consistently.
“Furthermore, we wanted to take into account improvement. We were keen not just to select “the best” from a pure, cold statistical standpoint. This is because we value improvement as much as we do absolute performance.
“It is not what you do but how you do it that makes the difference for our customers.”

Established in 1947, Moody Logistics provides pallet delivery, contract logistics, general haulage and container delivery across the UK.
It is one of the founding depots within the Pall-Ex network, which has access to more than 3,000 vehicles and 90 locations across the country, enabling UK-wide high-volume product deliveries within 24 hours.
