The Lloyds Bank Social Entrepreneurs Programme, in partnership with School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE) and jointly funded by the Big Lottery Fund, is open for applications. It is looking for individuals starting up and running organisations creating social and environmental impact across the North East to join its award-winning programme.

The Programme provides social entrepreneurs who are tackling some of the most difficult social issues within their communities with financial support (grants of up to £10,000), a comprehensive learning programme with School for Social Entrepreneurs and a dedicated business mentor from Lloyds Banking Group to start and grow their own businesses. By empowering entrepreneurs to start up and grow businesses, Lloyds Banking Group is delivering on its ambition to help Britain prosper and accelerate positive economic and social development across the UK.

The programme sits at the heart of Lloyds Banking Group’s Helping Britain Prosper Plan 2017 to help people, businesses and communities across the UK by supporting skills and training and will support 2,350 social entrepreneurs by 2020.

Emma Wilson from Thorne, Doncaster who was supported by the Lloyds Bank Social Entrepreneurs Programme, in partnership with SSE, to develop her social enterprise Artistic Spectrum, said:  “Artistic Spectrum has gone from strength to strength and it is fantastic to have the support of the Lloyds Bank Social Entrepreneurs Programme to develop my social enterprise further. It is great to be in a room full of entrepreneurs with great ideas and share our experiences and ideas”.

Applications are now open at https://www.the-sse.org/lbsep/ and School for Social Entrepreneurs Yorkshire, Humber & North East is hosting taster sessions across the North East to showcase what the programme has to offer and if it is right for you.

The North East taster session is:

  • Tuesday 4th April, 12.00-14.00 at Broadacre House, Market Street, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 6HQ

Nick Willams, Lloyds Banking Group Ambassador for the North said:
