North East tech firm eyes further growth as it adds global users

A leading software business in the North East has announced significant expansion plans, following a successful first year of trading.

Notify Technology, based in North Tyneside, is the creator of the world’s first ‘free forever’ digital Health and Safety near-miss reporting app, aiming to help their clients reduce risk and make workplaces around the globe safer for all. By 2020, they plan to have 2.2 million individual users of the app internationally; the same number of people killed in the workplace every year. The app already has users in 48 countries around the world and numbers are increasing every month.

The firm have recently expanded their team, welcoming Liz Alexander as Head of Finance and Liam Black as a Junior Support Developer on a permanent contract, following his successful completion of an apprenticeship with Notify. This summer the business relocated from modest office space in central Newcastle, to a bigger base in Cobalt Business Exchange, allowing for further growth of the team.

In addition, following a number of new client wins, including Thyssenkrupp, Bournville Village Trust, Alexandra Palace and London Zoo, Notify is set to recruit an additional 5 members of staff within their Business Development and Customer Success teams, allowing the business to ramp up sales efforts and target an ambitious 3-year growth plan.

Chief Executive Officer, Duncan Davies and co-founder Andy Dumbell, Chief Product Officer, are both committed to helping their clients ensure workplaces are safer and healthier, utilising leading-edge mobile technology to make reporting as simple and efficient as possible. Their software provides real time analytics and trends to provide insights on where risks are greatest and where to focus time and effort.

The platform is highly scalable and Notify clients range from FTSE-250 member Travis Perkins to a 70-person engineering business to smaller businesses that simply want to ensure they are compliant with Health & Safety regulations.

Notify Technology’s team are currently putting finishing touches on a new addition to the platform, named Simplicity, which is due to launch this Autumn, and getting to work on the next stages of the Notify product roadmap. The business is also poised to launch a bi-annual Product Advisory Council, allowing clients, partners and key industry experts in Health and Safety to play a role in steering the future innovation of Notify, ensuring the product is continually meeting client needs across multiple industries.
Davies is hopeful and excited that Notify Technology can drive meaningful change in terms of how Health and Safety is managed in the workplace, saying: “We use digital technology in so many areas of our personal and working lives, yet Health and Safety was an area that felt way behind.

“It seemed obvious that we should use our expertise in mobile, data and Internet of Things to develop a platform that will make going to work safer for everyday people, helping to cut accidents and reduce risk for organisations around the world. It’s really inspiring to see so many businesses embrace our technology, despite Notify being only 12 months old, and I’m thrilled to welcome our new starters to the team, as each will play a huge part in making the Notify #SafetyRevolution a reality.”

The free NotifyIt app is available on the IOS App store and Android app store now. For more information on the platform, visit their website.
