The Northern Homebuilding & Renovating Show

With property prices in Yorkshire & the Humber witnessing an annual growth rate of 4.7 per cent, The Northern Homebuilding & Renovating Show, sponsored by The Underfloor Heating Store, will be making its comeback at HIC (Harrogate International Centre) from 4-6 November 2016 to assist those with ambitious property plans in mind. This year’s event will inspire keen self-builders and renovators from Harrogate and nearby areas by introducing new services and products, offering free seminars, masterclasses and one-on-one consultations with the country’s leading property experts.

New to the event will be the Ask the Builder and Ask the Architectural Technologist features, where visitors will be able to attend free 15-minute specialist sessions at the Advice Centre. Ask the Builder, hosted by the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), will be offering reliable and trusted advice on every type of project around the home. For those interested in technical building services and solutions, The Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) will be providing insights from its stand.

The three-day exhibition is essential for people aiming to start a new self-build, renovation or home improvement project or progress with one which is already on its way. The annual Harrogate show is designed around popular resources required for eco and heating systems; kitchens; bathrooms; doors, windows and flooring, providing a more efficient alternative to browsing the internet in the search for the best options.

In addition, over 240 local and national specialist companies will provide visitors with access to on-trend technologies, products and services on the market and offer them the opportunity to meet the professionals behind them. For more in-depth knowledge and tailored advice, consumers will be invited to attend specialists talks at the Masterclass Theatre.

Home to the one-on-one consultations, the Advice Centre will be a reference point for impartial advice and tailored inspiration. Visitors will be encouraged to stop by the Ask the Architect area, where chartered architectural specialists from RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) will assist with 15-minute consultations on topics including building regulations and structural engineer calculations for loft or barn conversions, extensions, internal alterations, new builds and more.

All questions related to self-building and renovating will be answered by the UK’s key property specialists at the Ask the Experts area. Among those delivering free educational sessions are:  Michael Holmes (director of content of Homebuilding & Renovating Magazine); Jason Orme (editorial director of Homebuilding & Renovating Magazine); David Snell (Homebuilding & Renovating magazine’s self-build and plot finding expert); Tim Pullen (eco-expert of Homebuilding & Renovating magazine) and Bob Branscombe (building expert of Homebuilding & Renovating magazine).

For visitors who are facing the prospect of applying for planning permission or are already enrolled in the process, The Planning Clinic will be instrumental as Sally Tagg and her team will be shedding light on the common pitfalls of this procedure.

Visitors who aim to incorporate oak in their plans will have the opportunity to stop by Oakwrights Design Consultation Service’s stand, where the company’s architectural designers will advise on the best practices to blend together traditional building skills with innovative technology.

Standard tickets are £8 in advance or £12 on the door (children under 16 go free). For further information, visit www.homebuildingshow.co.uk/harrogate or call the ticket hotline on 0844 8740 484 (calls cost 6p per minute plus network extras).
