Shulmans lawyer wins regional award

A lawyer from top 200 law firm Shulmans LLP has received Learning Innovations’ prestigious Learner of the Year 2018 award, beating over 160 other candidates from across Yorkshire.

Over the last two and a half years, Emma King has been a student on Learning Innovations’ management programme, developing her leadership skills to support and motivate her colleagues and ensure their targets are achieved. Emma, a qualified FCILEx lawyer, has gained two leadership and management diplomas whilst on the programme. The Learner of the Year award acknowledges and rewards the individual who has demonstrated consistent motivation and commitment throughout the course.

Emma has worked at Shulmans since 2003 and is a team leader within the firm’s QCAS division – providing award-winning specialist volume remortgage and conveyancing services to the UK lending and estate agency industries. She was supported on the development programme by Shulmans, reflecting its commitment to providing employees with the opportunity to learn new skills and achieve their career goals.

On receiving the award, Emma said: “I am thrilled to have received the Learner of the Year award. The programme was inspiring and I have gained so much professionally from the course. Shulmans has consistently supported me throughout the 16 years that I have worked for the firm, and I now feel even more confident and empowered in my role.”

Claire Telford, trainer and assessor at Learning Innovations, said: “For a long time, we have rewarded and recognised the commitment from our learners. Emma is an excellent example of how you can benefit at any point in your career from apprenticeship programmes and continued learning and development. She was an absolute pleasure to work with and thoroughly deserves this award.”
