Taylor Wimpey and Bellway bring new homes to Droylsden

People in and around the Droylsden area will soon get the chance to buy a Taylor Wimpey or Bellway home, following news that the homebuilders have been granted planning permission for a new residential development.

The application for 338 new homes at the site – a consortium with Bellway Homes – will see Taylor Wimpey deliver 167 homes at the development known as The Orangery, after planning permission was granted by Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council.

Already on site in the early stages of remediation, the Bellway development will be called ‘Marmalade at the Jam Factory’ and comprise an attractive mix of 171 properties including two bedroom apartments and mews and a selection of three and four bedroom homes from its Artisan Collection.

As part of its permission, Taylor Wimpey and Bellway Homes will invest £400,000 in transport infrastructure as well as making financial contributions towards education provision and local greenspace. The development will also deliver a high-quality play area and public space with cycle and walkway along the Ashton Canalside.

The development will include a mix of properties, from two-bedroom apartments to three-bedroom semi-detached homes and three-and-four-bedroom detached homes. Five per cent of these are to be allocated for affordable housing.

Gareth Bancroft, associate land and planning director at Taylor Wimpey Manchester, said: “We are delighted to have received planning approval for our latest development in Droylsden, Manchester. The development will provide much needed homes, including affordable housing, to the local community. In addition to this, we will also ensure that this latest development provides a positive contribution to the local area, with a new high-quality public realm along the canal.”

Sales manager at Bellway Lynne Duxbury said: “It is exciting to return to Tameside and be on site with this new development in Droylsden. We envisage the first plots to be ready next year and are encouraging interested homebuyers to register their interest ahead of our sales launch.”

Construction on site is anticipated to start in November 2020.
